Dr. DeArmond and his wife Denise attended The American Dental Association Meeting in New Orleans. Dr. DeArmond has attended the past 29 Annual Sessions of the ADA. This is an opportunity to meet with friends from around the world that attend each year. The ADA is also provides one of the best technical exhibits and is an opportunity to see new products at their introduction. There are a number of planned evening events and there is always an opportunity to play a round of golf.
The Academy of R. V. Tucker Study Clubs, http://arvtsc.org/, held its annual meeting in Asheville, NC at The Groove Park Inn. The Hollenback-Medina Operative Dentistry Seminar, Club 71, served as the host club this year. The Hollenback-Medina Group was founded in 1962.
Dr. DeArmond and Denise made several trips to Asheville to assist General Chairman , Dr. Craig Bridgeman and his wife Rose with the local arrangements. The meeting included lectures, a clinic session, tours and evening events highlighted by the Presidents Gala.
Dr. DeArmond served as Clinic Director for the live patient operations performed at The AB Technical Institute Dental Hygiene Clinic. Members of The Academy completed treatment of nine patients.
The L.D. Pankey Institute, http://www.pankey.org/, held its annual Alumni Meeting in Orlando, FL. The Pankey Institute is located in Key Biscayne, FL and is the oldest and most well recognized institute for advanced dental learning worldwide. The meeting is centered around the scientific sessions. Dr. DeArmond serves as a member of the Visiting Faculty and as an Advisor to the Board of Directors of the L.D. Pankey Foundation.
Dr. DeArmond returned to The Pankey Institute as a member of the Visiting Faculty to facilitate an Essentials1, week long course. The class had an international flair with participating dentist from the US, Canada, and Australia. The course focuses on anatomy, diagnostic skills, occlusion, and philosophy. The course provides lecture, clinical, and laboratory exercises and is the first of a four course continuum.
March was a very busy month for continuing education beginning with a Tucker Study Club Meeting in Leesburg, VA, hosted by Drs. Glenn and Cary Birkitt with visiting Clinic Director, Dr. Warren Johnson from Seattle, Washington. Denise and I were honored as house guests of Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Birkitt. The meeting followed the format of clinical operations, laboratory procedures, and lectures over 3 days.
Later in March Dr. Dee was accompanied by his Team to The Hinman Meeting, http://www.hinman.org/, in Atlanta for two days of lectures on current topics related to the diagnosis and care of our patients. The Hinman Meeting is recognized as one of the top National Continuing Education programs offering some of the top lecturing clinicians worldwide.
Dr. DeArmond has been making the long cold trip to Chicago since 1986. Chicago is the host city for several of the top Dental Academies in the world. This year, Dr. Dee attended The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, http://restorativeacademy.com/, and The Academy of Operative Dentistry, https://www.academyofoperativedentistry.com/. Dr. Dee is currently serving on the Clinic Committee and The ADA Liaison Committee of the Restorative Academy and was elected to serve on The Council of the Restorative Academy for the next three years.
